Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. A New Must-See For Brides Planning Their Wedding!

Jan 16, 2013 / Weddings

We're so excited to share this with you!

A few months ago, our good friend and mentor (and by the way, the photographer who took the photos of us that are on our website and blog) Millie Holloman and us were texting back and forth about the appropriate pronunciation of Downton Abbey. That's a whole other story, but I will say that Millie can do quite a British accent.

In other news though, Millie spilled the beans about a special project she was working on in the form of a new company called Pressed Cotton. Since then, we've been stalking all social media outlets, texting and e-mailing Millie for some hints, and quite possibly googling every variation of Pressed Cotton trying to stumble upon the 411.

Well, the great news is, we don't have to wait any longer! Millie's new company is live and it is... amazing!

If you head to the website, you'll see that the stuff on there isn't just geared towards brides. If you're like us and are a home decor addict, you'll find some stuff to love on Pressed Cotton.

For example, I so want this Hanging Wall Calendar for our office. How cute is this!

What about gifts for a newlywed couple? Since I'm trying to cook breakfast every day for Luke as part of my new years goals, I have been going through cookbooks left and right. This one would be great to give to any wife-to-be.

For our brides and grooms, (and their families who are helping plan the wedding) the possibilites are endless, and the value is an unexpected surprise. I can't get over how cute these table number holders are... and they're only.. wait for it... $8.50.

I can't wait to place OUR first order. Congratulations Millie on another amazing endeavor! You are an entrepreneurial inspiration!

2012 Luke and Cat Couples Canvas Contest

Jan 15, 2013 / Our Life

Whew! What a year!

As a fun way to pay tribute to what an excellent year we had in 2012, and as a way to say thank you to our amazing couples, we decided to host a 2012 Favorite Photo Canvas Contest!

The contest is running on Facebook right now, and we've already had over 350 votes! Of course, we can't vote, because there's no way I could choose from all of these amazing couples we got to work with last year. There are too many memories, laughs, and friendships formed along the way, and we could never choose a favorite!

But, you can! And you can help one of our couples win a 20 x 30 canvas! Head over to our Facebook page to cast your vote!

And to the people who are pictured above... how can we ever thank you? You have allowed our dreams to come true, just by being you and letting us photograph it. :)

One of my new years resolutions...

Jan 14, 2013 / Our Life
I wouldn't call it a resolution as much as a goal.

While we were in Indiana over Christmas, there were a few days where Luke was feeling under the weather and I decided it was my job to make him breakfast. What you may not know about Luke and I is that in our life, somehow or another, Luke cooks most of our meals. Luke loves to cook and in another life he would love to be a chef.

The interesting thing is that I'm also a good cook, and I also like to cook. I'd just say, Luke is a little bit better of a cook, and he enjoys cooking more than I do. But there was something a little strange in our husband-wife dynamic when Luke was cooking the meals, and while we were in Indiana and I was doing some of the cooking, I really liked it, and Luke liked it too.

So, one of my new years' resolutions (again - more of a goal) is to cook my husband breakfast every morning. This works out great because we usually figure out lunch together (like a sandwich, or cheese and crackers, etc.) and then Luke's still able to play chef for dinner.
So, we're about 10 meals in now, and I haven't missed a single day. We've had lots of adventurous stuff that I would NEVER eat for breakfast (like spinach or onions, etc.) and also some basic stuff like scrambled eggs and bacon. But one of the meals we've had twice so far is these streusel topped blueberry muffins.

It's really nothing special, it's a packet of Betty Crocker blueberry muffin mix, and I use milk instead of water like the packet calls for. Then, because Luke told me his favorite part of any muffin was streusel topping, I looked up a recipe for streusel topping (which is just sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter) and sprinkled that on top of it before baking.
I'd love to hear some other breakfast ideas that you might have!
