Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Take A Step Forward

Everyone wants to be a star! Bridesmaids and their families love a photo of just them with the bride. But how to get each bridesmaid their moment while keeping charge of the flow of the day? Today’s Weekend Snapshot tip is: narrow that focus!

When taking photos facing happy brides and bridesmaids, don’t forget to take a step forward and focus on just a few of the bridesmaids together, like this one of the bride and her best friends. Each bridesmaid has her own special relationship with the bride, and that will come out in their photos.

Leaning In & Capturing Those Happy Moments,

Luke & Cat

The drama is in the details

Attention to detail goes into every decision a couple makes before the big day. Photographers, use that to your advantage when looking for the perfect ring shot.

Anything that has the couple’s name(s) on it has the potential for a great ring shot. We like to use anything monogrammed, like this cocktail napkin. It is one of those smaller details that can make all the difference in the wedding story that you are documenting. Not every wedding has a personalized cocktail napkin, but they all have plenty of things to use—if you keep your eyes focused on the details.

Lavish Diamonds & Calligraphed Details,

The Hands Have It

Look away from the cake...we know it’s hard! Today’s Weekend Snapshot is about where to focus instead to get the best cake-cutting photos for your wedding clients.

During the cake cutting, one of the photos we make sure to take features the bride and grooms’ hands as the focal point. If you frame the image where you can also see the cake, you get a gorgeous horizontal image that has a great chance of being featured in the cake baker’s marketing. Vendors are always looking for professional-quality photos of their products ‘in action’ on the wedding day!

Love & Cake
