Jul 9, 2015 at 2:27PM
Christina Chasse : Wow! What an amazing offer you two have put together!
If I only had two questions to ask.... 1.) How do you make your photos tell a story rather than just point and shoot? I feel like I can take pretty good photos, but I want them to evoke emotion. 2.) What is your advice on transitioning my business from a part-time job on the weekends to a full blown business where I can support myself?
Jul 9, 2015 at 11:31AM
Lauren Eckard : I would love to win! My two questions would be 1. What is the best way to organize your business to be successful? 2. How to get to a point of feeling confident with your pricing and work matching? Thanks for the opportunity :) Jul 9, 2015 at 10:23AM

Jul 9, 2015 at 12:48AM
Amanda Korell : What an amazing giveaway! I could so use this right now!!!
My first question would be this - imagine you moved to a new location. A location where you know nobody at all! How do you gain a clientele? How do you market yourself to a community that is completely foreign to you? That's my struggle at the moment.
My second question would be - how do you refrain from comparing your work with other photographers? I know it should never be done, but sometimes I feel it just happens. It puts me in a funk sometimes!
Thanks again for this opportunity - so awesome!
Jul 8, 2015 at 10:17PM
Ashley : The first question would be can we move to Texas and be your neighbors??? Second question on a more serious note.., how to stand out among your competition. So excited!!! And thank you for this awesome opportunity!!!
Jul 8, 2015 at 9:48PM
Dale Sohr : Luke & Cat, First I would like to say, that this would be a life time opportunity, to win this awesome Giveaway!! After actually meeting you guys during my daughters Bridal session I was so impressed with your great personalities!! I had so much fun with you both that day!! A day I will never forget!! Thank you for that!! So my two questions are not as professional as a lot of others but here it goes anyway!!
1) I don't like to always shoot by myself, so I would love some
pointers on how to keep your self esteem up or believing in yourself?
2) I don't feel like I'm good at posing. I notice, when looking at your pictures you don't really pose. How do you interact with your clients to get the best shots?
I'm crossing my fingers but if I'm not that blessed one to win I would love to do a coaching session with you one day!! Love you guys!!! Mrs. Dale Sohr
Jul 8, 2015 at 4:27PM

Jennifer Davis : Oh the questions I would ask!!!
1. When delivering products to your clients, what have you found to be the best method(prints, digital images, online ordering, deliver in person, etc)?
2. What advice would you give for a newer professional photographer in regards to business plan, time management, must needed equipment(camera and computer), and advertising/branding?
This would be such a blessing to my business if I were to win. I want to get it off and running and feel like a needed push and great guidance would be very beneficial! Thank you for offering this giveaway! ~ Jennifer
Jul 8, 2015 at 1:04PM
tiffany : my first question would definitely be how you keep all your financial and business info organized, is it a online program, spreadsheet, quickbooks?
second question would be how best to deal with what I am currently suffering with, I feel like I am constantly redoing all of my things, how do you find it best to delegate days or times to do these things? how often are you dedicating time to replenishing new work into your welcome packets, business cards, etc.
Jul 8, 2015 at 12:24PM
Cricia : Your beautiful work & your flawless reputation speaks for itself! I personally think your willingness to share your passion and love of the industry through education, makes you a true photographer, of excellence and love. After all when your really 'love" you want the world to know about it. So I thank you for the education you already share through your blog post. It is inspiring, and makes me even more eager to confidently pick up my camera and play!
As I have a billion questions, I believe my top 2 would be: 1. Can you share your best piece of natural light advice, and how it is best used to enhance the artistic side of a photo rather than to let it ruin it. Since I personally feel like natural light (mid day sun for example) can make or break a photo when used within it.
2. What is the one piece of advice you wish you would have known when you first started? Jul 8, 2015 at 4:02AM
Macy : What an awesome opportunity! My number one question would be how do you make the leap from part-time to full-time photographer(especially what to invest in first?) My next question would be what do you recommend in how to deliver images(digital vs. prints?) THANK YOU! Jul 8, 2015 at 2:50AM

Amanda : Oh wow! If I won I would ask: How do you stay organized and what can I do to improve my meetings so people will book?
Jul 7, 2015 at 10:27PM
Kevin & Anna : Hi Luke & Cat,
The top two questions that we would like to ask are:
1. What do you all wish you knew before you started your business about working together as a married couple?
2. We would just like to learn more about your story and how you all became so successful.
Thanks :) Jul 7, 2015 at 10:15PM
Kelsey Wood : What is the best thing to do to boost your confidence when you get back home to start working on a session and it just didn't turn out like you thought it would? And how do you respond to a client that would like a certain shot, but you don't think it will make the best photo or will be a great representation of your work? Jul 7, 2015 at 10:12PM
Maria : Great article! Could really use this! Thanks for being so awesome~
Jul 7, 2015 at 8:44PM
Kayla Dunham : This would be an absolutely fabulous opportunity. Two questions that come to mind first are:
1. How do you go about marketing to your clients to bring in clients of all backgrounds and help your business stand out from the other photographers that may be in your area. We all know Facebook, Twitter, blogs etc, but what are other awesome ways to set yourself apart.
2. How do you go about intially meeting your client to delivering the finished product. So you have a consultation, discuss what they like areas they are interested in shooting, outfits, etc etc. Jul 7, 2015 at 7:52PM
Heather Crump : This is SO amazing! What a dream come true. I have never seen a giveaway like this and it truly warms my heart. Making that jump from part-time photographer to full time photographer has been on my to-do list for QUITE some time! I love shooting weddings- it is the direction where I would love to see my business head! I mean c'mon FREE wedding cake? Psh. Count me in, lol. All jokes aside I LOVE love and even more than that I love capturing someone else's love. This giveaway and the chance to pick apart Luke & Cat's brain would definitely send me in the right direction. I want to learn who to coach a couple to show genuine emotion while getting their pictures taken so my first question would be: 1. How do you coach a couple to feel comfortable enough to show genuine emotion? Nothing beats getting those intimate shots! Another major subject I thirst to learn is style! I love Luke & Cat's clean, crisp, soft, pastel look 2. How do you keep your shooting style consistent with your business look? Good luck to everyone who entered! Thank you again Luke & Cat- you two are so kind! Jul 7, 2015 at 4:30PM
Shoshana H : I would love to have these questions answered:
1) What are the best steps to really get your business off the ground?
2) What are your recommendations for how to work with your spouse - task distribution, strengths, etc.? Jul 7, 2015 at 3:59PM
Deanna Lewis : Question #1: How do you know what to charge for the services you provide, or how did you go about setting those prices?
Question #2: What is the ONE best piece of advice you would offer to someone in the photography business?
Jul 7, 2015 at 2:40PM

Jul 7, 2015 at 1:48AM
Amy : Thank you, thank you, thank you, for giving back in such a remarkable way. We are just starting out and this would be such a great opportunity to really get moving in the right direction. First off, I love that both of you have been able to build such a successful business while maintaining integrity and being truly interested in your clients and giving them the one of the best experiences they will treasure. That being said, I would really love to learn how we can be genuinely interested in the clients in such a way that it comes naturally and thus attracting the right clients for us. I don’t want to just love love, I want to feel like I can make a difference in the couple’s lives in a positive way, so that they can remember us; not just as great photographers, but also as the couple that made a difference in their lives. Similarly, we know we need a network of professionals, but how do you build that network when you are viewed as competition and it’s a very tightly knit network of those who have worked together for years in the wedding industry, all the while trying to build up your wedding portfolio? Jul 7, 2015 at 12:06AM
Stephanie : hmmm this is a toughie. I think one of them would be how to bring out authentic emotion from couples during an engagement session. The other would most likely be on understanding brides and what they are looking for in a photographer and what they are looking for in products. I'd like to have a better understanding on marketing and trying to find my ideal client. muah! ~Stephanie Jul 6, 2015 at 11:26PM
Bree Smith : My friend tagged me in your post on Instagram and I am so excited to enter and really hope I win so fingers crossed!
I am a photographer from Texas who just started to make money off of photography. (You can find my art at www.facebook.com/breesmithphotography) At first it was just a hobby until my friends told me that they would pay to me take their senior pictures and then bang, my business started. I would really like to grow my personal blog too. So my questions are
1. For my photography business, what is the best way to reach new clientele?
2. For my blog, how do I increase my marketing and get more views and shares?
Thank you so much for giving this opportunity to others. Sometimes people like me need a little mentoring to get started in the right direction! :)
Jul 6, 2015 at 11:14PM
Ashley : This is a lovely giveaway! I really enjoy reading your blog and would be so excited to have a chance to learn in person. My biggest questions in photography/life right now would have to be:

Jul 6, 2015 at 6:35PM
Amanda : What a fantastic giveaway! I think for me, my top questions would be how you incorporate shooting film and digital into your business (in all aspects...workflow, finances, marketing etc) as well as what steps are you taking to prepare for 5, 10 years in the future, kids, retirement etc. I'm the first entrepreneur in my family and I feel like there is SO much information out there on how to start and business and run one in the beginning, but hardly any on how to sustain it and plan for the future when you retire.
Jul 6, 2015 at 6:08PM
Kayla W : Amazing giveaway! Love your work <3 Jul 6, 2015 at 6:06PM
Bree Patterson : My top two questions would be:
1. What was your mantra or saying that you used to remind yourself that it might not be easy now but it's worth it? - in other words what kept you motivated to preserver?
2. If you could start from scratch, do you believe networking is a more effective way to reach a goal or to hit the books hard and study your way to the top? - in other words, do you find that people care if you have school accreditation behind your name when it comes to photography or is it more that people want to know who you know and why?
Jul 6, 2015 at 5:54PM
Alex Hinders : This is incredible!! Such a generous giveaway!! Fingers crossed ;)
Jul 6, 2015 at 5:42PM

Jul 6, 2015 at 5:38PM

Jul 6, 2015 at 4:56PM
Tracy Morgan : I have learned so much from both of you already! The 2 things I would ask would be; 1. How do you keep it fresh with each shoot, making the client(s) feel so special. 2. How do you decide what continuing education to do and how do you decide where to go? I appreciate the guidance I've received so far and hope to receive in the future! Jul 6, 2015 at 4:53PM
Jaime Julius : We are also a husband and wife team so my top two questions would be about how to incorporate both of our personalities into our brand and ways to make our client experience top notch. I've been following you both for awhile, this prize could take our business to the next level and would be an amazing opportunity!!
Jul 6, 2015 at 4:39PM

Riette Farthing : Having just gotten married and moving my business to a new state, I feel like I have this fantastic opportunity to start with a clean slate, define who I am and be confident!. Things that I found difficult when I often still felt like the "new girl" after 4 years in business in the same area as folks like Katelyn James, Abby Grace, Tori Watson, Natalie Franke, etc. I'd love to talk about how to define who I am and how that translates to how I relate to my clients in giving them a unique experience. Id also like to talk about how to price myself well and have my confidence in my prices rub off on my clients so they can be confident in me!
Jul 6, 2015 at 4:23PM
Kinzie Reiss : 1. What advice would you give a "newbie" to set themselves a part from (it seems) the ever growing population of photographers?
2. How do you decide what avenue of photography to focus on? Such as wedding, portrait, etc and what is too much if ever?

Kinzie

Also, we're always interested in learning more about selling. We don't sell a lot of albums, even though we try! We'd love to get your take on selling techniques. What works for you, and what doesn't as far as making a sell?
I'd LOOOVE to win this contest. Thank you guys for the opportunity!! Much love!
Jul 6, 2015 at 3:48PM
Kristina Ross : Hmm, that's a tough one because I would have so many questions! Buuut, my top ones would definitely be how to market yourself to your target market in two different areas? I'll be moving to Arkansas from Texas, but we will eventually be moving back (most likely) so I want to be able to keep my business somewhat busy in Texas. My schedule gets crazy but I feel like I am never accomplishing anything or feel like I am actually doing things that benefit my business. But then I feel guilty for taking free time for myself. 2) Getting published. This is a bear for me. I have tried and tried to get my weddings on blogs and nothing seems to work. I just don't think that either my style or the type of weddings I shoot are what they want?? I have tried to forget about it and just go about my business without trying....but part of me always still wants to try.
Thanks for the opportunity guys!!!! :) :) would love to still work with ya'll even if I don't win!! :) :)

Bre : 2 questions I would love to have answered are..
1) Aside from being incredibly talented, with the photography field starting to become a saturated career field, how do you all set yourselves apart from others to gain new clientele and keep a repeat customer base?
2) In regards to using social media as a marketing tool, which outlet do you find best? How do you make the most out of the options you choose and the best way to utilize Facebook now that it is harder to promote your business without using "boost your post" as an option for those who don't have a large advertising budget. Best advice for a full time student trying to grow their business?
How did nail down your style and business profile? Jul 6, 2015 at 2:40PM
Laura Dienzo : 1) What am I doing wrong? :-)
2) What is the one thing you've done to turn your business around?
Jul 6, 2015 at 2:34PM
Alyx Tschirhart : 1. How do you balance your work and home life? Since it's not quite as easy as M-F/8-5 like other jobs, I'm always curious on how successful photographers and other business owners manage this.
2. Where do you draw inspiration from so that your work doesn't look redundant from shoot-to-shoot?
Thanks,
Alyx

O'Malley : Hi! I love love love when photographers give back all the knowledge they have learned and I hope to be able to do the same someday. I think my top two questions I would ask would be something to do with taxes and how all that works. I am all about learning and I have tried to teach myself as much as I could when it comes to that but it would be so nice to have someone further along be able to explain the processes of that (and managing small business finances in general) My second question would probably be more on a personal level, about how you two juggle separating your business life with personal life and not letting your business slip into what is supposed to be personal time together. I am a newlywed so making time for each other that doesn't involve thinking about emails is hard! I am so grateful for your sharing hearts. Someday I hope to do the same for others who are in the beginning stages of their business like I am! Thank you for being a blessing!

Jul 6, 2015 at 2:30PM
Breanna McKendrick : Seeing how I just moved to Austin Texas, and "starting new" in a new location is a bit intimidating, I would be how you build a marketing plan for your business that brings you in qualified and ideal brides that you desperate want to shoot? And once you have a handful of brides, what systems do you have to ensure that they each receive a consistent and amazing experience that leaves them wanting to shout your name from the mountain tops to all their newly engaged friends.

Eric Ferguson : I would LOVE the opportunity to learn from two amazing photographers and fellow Aggies! The first question I would ask would be "What was your biggest fear early on in your career and what did you do to overcome it?" The second question I would ask would be "Working as a husband and wife team, do you feel that it has brought you closer as a couple? If so, do you feel that your success has helped to add to that closeness?"
Thanks for the opportunity to win. I can't wait to find out who the winner is going to be!!

lauren W : After moving four times in seven years, and gearing up for the fifth one in a few months, I'm ready to overhaul my business plan and pricing. We will be stationary for 4-5 years, and I think redoing everything can only help my business.
Jul 6, 2015 at 2:26PM
Burke Friend : My top two questions I would ask you, if I won the fabulous give away would be, 1. I am completely new to photography as a business, for years I've tinkered with a camera, but not really dove in. Well this summer God shut one door and said "it's time Burke" and opened a new door. So with this new found strength I'm becoming a sponge :) eager to learn EVERYTHING! So I guess my question is this to start with, Where do you draw your strength in charting new waters?
On to question two? Point blank how do you determine what's legit and what's not?? With so many opinions and options how do you determine what's the best options in, equipment, locations, etc...
Thank you for your time and consideration, love reading your blog!!
Burke :) Jul 6, 2015 at 2:24PM

Jul 6, 2015 at 2:20PM
Rachel : Hello and thank you for the opportunity to enter! I would first like to know a little bit about your timeline to success (i.e. how much and what type of business you were doing in the beginning compared to now, and how you decided when to grow in what areas). That's a question, right? :) Second, I would ask about your use of media/advertising (what you find to be most beneficial and the best bang for your buck after good ole' word of mouth referrals), there are so many avenues and some are intimidating! And then of course I have a lot of more to ask but I'll stop there!
Jul 6, 2015 at 2:16PM
Becky Darsey : Question 1: Where is the line between part-time photographer and making the leap into leaving the day job and jumping in with both feet?
Question 2: In building my portfolio, I seem to be lost between giving my work away and not having it taken seriously or justifying my charges without an established business - What advice can you give?

Nicole Chatham : What an amazing give away! I would definitely ask about the "business" side of things- what's your business workflow once you book a client and what's your ideal marketing strategy? Thanks so much! Fingers crossed!!!
Jul 6, 2015 at 2:13PM
Clara : My top two questions during coaching would be:
1. How do you keep each session so fresh and different from the last? I tend to go out there and go blank (I'm still new), and have to calm myself down and stick with what I know. I love what I do and want to enjoy it and not get so frazzled!
2. What are some great tips for balancing work and home? Again, I'm new so I feel like I'm still in the "getting set up" stage, things like creating my Bridal Guide/website/blog, etc. On top of editing and blogging. My workflow is nonexistent so I know that's a huge problem. But I will take any and all the tips you could give me! =]

Erica Hoffmann : How do you value the work you're offering your clients, based on how new you are to the business or based on amount of photos guaranteed? What do you feel is an adequate amount of expenses from your business (percentage wise) to use for higher end products you offer your customers whether it be the prints or albums or just the USB you give them with edited images? Jul 6, 2015 at 1:54PM
Becki : Y'all are so awesome! I would love nothing more than to spend a day with the two of you!
Jul 6, 2015 at 1:54PM
Nicole Wynsteker : Two questions I would want answered are how do you guys get to know your bride and groom before the wedding in order to get them comfortable around you to get the beautiful images of their day.
Also are there any specific poses you guys always do or do you just set them up in roughly the same with different variations for the different parties. Jul 6, 2015 at 1:53PM
